FAQ

How long can I stay in Thailand visa-free?

Citizens of 93 countries get 60 days visa-exempt entry since July 2024 — including the US, UK, all of EU, Australia, Canada, India, Russia and most of Asia. You can extend once for another 30 days at any immigration office for 1 900 baht.

Do I need to print a return ticket?

Yes. Thai immigration may ask for proof of onward travel within your visa period. Budget airline e-ticket counts. Some airlines refuse boarding without one — Air Asia is the strictest.

What is the 6-month rule?

You can spend 180 days inside Thailand per calendar year on visa-exempt entries. Frequent border runs trigger immigration scrutiny — after 2-3 land entries within 6 months you may be refused at the border.

When did the 60-day visa-exempt rule start?

July 15, 2024. Before that, the rule was 30 days. If you read older blog posts mentioning the 30-day stamp, the information is outdated.
