Picking the best beach on Koh Samui

Best Beaches on Koh Samui? Really?! There are more than a dozen, and each has its own unique look, character and prowess. You want – and you’re looking at miles of white sand powder in the shade of palm trees. Or maybe you like the rocky shores, where you can admire packs of fish in crystal pools…? So let’s find the best Koh Samui beach for you!

I won’t mention anything about Chaweng, as I’ve described it before. You can read about its beauties in the “Chaweng is the best beach on Samui”

Lamai Beach on Samui

Lamai Beach is the most volatile and skittish beach on Samui, with the beautiful Siva Tara waterfall nearby. Along the 4 kilometers of shoreline, both the depth and texture of the sand and the surrounding landscape change. Closer to the north, the tides are more pronounced, so you can often find rare shells and large crabs on the beach. At the southern end of the beach is a curious rock formation called “Grandma and Grandpa”.

The central part of Lamai is most frequented by tourists, close to many stores, cafes, massage parlors and water activities. It is usually crowded, but not as noisy as, say, on Chaweng. Umbrellas and sun loungers are included. Statistics show that this is one of the best beaches in Thailand.

Bophut Beach on Samui

.

Bophut is located near the airport. Low-flying planes are always a big hit with the kids. True, they appear rather rarely and, on the whole, do not distract from the rest very much. The cove is well protected from the waves, but the depth of the sea here is decent. Nearby is a fishing pier, as well as the temple complex, known as the Big Buddha. By the way, there is something similar in Phuket – Big Buddha Statue.

The sunsets on Bophut are ineffable. But for swimming, it’s probably not the best option on Koh Samui. The water here is often a little murky, with lots of algae and Thai jellyfish. The sand is quite coarse, dark in color. Nevertheless, Bophut is quite crowded. Among other things – a lot of vendors of goodies, swimwear and jewelry. To the north, 13 kilometers from the beach, is the equally beautiful Phangan Island, popular for its paradise beaches.

Maenam Beach on Samui

.

In terms of recreation and entertainment, the infrastructure on Maenam is quite well developed. The coastline is always clean. The scenery is excellent. The quality of the water can be a little bit disappointing – due to several rivers flowing into the sea nearby, the bottom of the sea is silty in places.

Maenam has a reputation as one of the cheapest areas to stay. It is a nice place for those who love peace and quiet.

Chongmon Beach on Samui Island

.

Near to Chongmon is the small island of Phan Noi, which can be reached by wading. On the periphery of the beach is easy enough seclusion, but closer to the central part there is a lot of driving “bananas” and jet skis, learning diving and even operating boats.

The sea in this part of Koh Samui is relatively calm, and the sand is pleasant to the eye as well as to the feet. Especially in the northern part. The only disappointments in Chong Mong are for those who prefer the scenic beauty of nature to the nightlife.
