Huge number of reviews left on the web by tourists who have been to Thailand are about the Phuket FantaSea Show. However, this mesmerizingly beautiful and large-scale spectacle – it involves a whole herd of elephants – is only a small part of what can surprise Phuket Fantasia Park. The name of the place, in terms of grammar English, is misspelled – Phuket FantaSea. But traditionally its transcription sounds exactly like “FantaSea,” which most accurately reflects what’s going on there.
Park
Phuket Fantasy is an amusement park designed for families. It has two territorial dominants: the Elephant Palace, where the theater show takes place, and the Restaurant. The fact that the catering establishment is spelled with a capital letter is no accident; it is part of the show. Upon entering, visitors are given two stickers to hang on their chests. The seat numbers of both establishments are written on them.
The two stickers are also available to the public.
Besides these, Phuket Fantasia Park has a complex of children’s attractions, toy stores and souvenir stores. You can ride elephants, take part in interactive street shows with elements of folk buffoonery. The total area of the territory is 50 hectares.
Theatrical performance
The extravagant Phuket FantaSea show takes place at the Palace of the Elephants, built in the style of a Sukhothai palace with traditional Southeast Asian ornate decorations and gilding. Among the statues stand out 999 figures of elephants defenders. The auditorium seats 3,000 spectators, and the stage is so large that live buffalo, goats, chickens and other wildlife are used as Thai village scenery. The show begins with a march down the central aisle of forty elephants, accompanied by herdsmen dressed in national costumes. Above the heads of the audience acrobats perform dizzying stunts. They are illuminated by spotlights and look like stars.
The plot of the theatrical action is similar to the script of an Indian movie. Prince Kamal’s struggle for his beloved, an ordinary peasant girl, is played out. The bandits who kidnap the beautiful peasant girl are aided by demons. Kamal’s armies are gods. Phuket Fantasia show is accompanied by unsophisticated tricks in the style of Christmas trees, designed for children (read more about holidays with children in Phuket). It ends with a chorus of elephants. As you say goodbye, you can be photographed with the artists on the golden chariot, with the elephant or the tiger cub. The photo is expensive – 850 baht. It is forbidden to take photos in the hall. They sell DVDs of the show.
Restaurant
Golden Kinnaree is located on the lakefront. It seats 4,000. The food is buffet style. For 400 baht you can try to eat everything you see. But don’t forget that you can’t get it all for free to drink. Liquids are served for a fee. It will cost you 90 baht for a glass of mineral water.
Cost of attendance
Phuket Fantasia show price depends on the intended cultural program. If you choose to see only the theatrical performance, it will cost you 1,800 baht. One visit to a restaurant – 1100 baht. Combining one with the other is more profitable: a set of bread and a spectacle costs 2,200 baht.
Transfer there and back will cost 300 baht. Costs for all other shopping, rides and taking pictures with the animals are up to you to plan for yourself.
How to get there
The Phuket Fantasy Show is a must-see item. Your hotel will be able to tell you how to get to Phuket Fantasia Show. And what’s more – our park managers will contact you to arrange a seamless transfer to and from the park. The park is located next to Kamala Beach (Phuket beaches description). It’s impossible to miss the huge Phuket FantaSea banner.
