Prices in Krabi are generally lower. You can find a decent plate of Pad Thai at a local stall in Krabi Town for 60 THB. Many guesthouses near Ao Nang offer rooms starting at 850 THB per night. This attracts backpackers and long-term travelers.

Phuket is more expensive. A meal in a touristy area of Patong might cost you 250 THB easily. Luxury resorts in Bang Tao or Surin Beach charge much higher rates than anything you will find in Krabi. You pay for the convenience and the sheer volume of high-end amenities.
