Khao Lak is the perfect resort for a relaxing beach holiday!

Kao Lak resort in Thailand is located on the shores of the Andaman Sea. Administratively subordinate to the province of Phang Nga. From Bangkok to it, in a straight line, 750 kilometers. Phuket is located 60 kilometers to the south. From Phuket airport to this town go buses and taxi, travel time is no more than an hour and a half. Nearby are the Khao Sok and Khao Lak – Lampu national parks, as well as the divers’ favorite, Similan Islands.

Russian tour operators for some reason bypass the Khao Lak resort. Our compatriots get there for the most part on their own. In contrast to the Scandinavians, fond of him, and, apparently, his restrained Nordic nature has determined the general atmosphere there. The best part is that to get to Khao Lak is not much harder than to the tourist-stamped beaches of Pattaya.

For those seeking peace

Tours to Khao Lak are a real godsend for those who want to relax, not “go wild”. A small number of tourists, dominated by emotionally reserved Scandinavians, secluded beaches, not particularly developed entertainment infrastructure. The town looks most like Phuket at the beginning of the tourist boom that began 25 years ago.

Khao Lak Resort in Thailand

The main attractions of Khao Lak are the many kilometers of beachfront and the dense rainforests framing it. No one will stop you in a romantic quietness to meet the dawn, and in the evening to spend, leaving over the horizon of the Indian Ocean, the sun. You can not worry about that in advance to take a turn at the nearest restaurant or cafe. It’s always free, and the Thai cuisine is most authentic.

Beaches

Kao Lak is a resort area stretching from the town that gave it its name for a full thirty kilometers north along the Phet Kassem Road. First on the way from Phuket is the village of Ban Khao Lak and Khao Lak Beach. Farther north are: Ban La On village and Nang Tong beach, Bang Niang and Khuk Hak villages, each with its own beach of the same name.

Nang Thong Beach and Bang Niang Beach

Best beaches of Khao Lak are said to be there. Of course, compared to Pattaya or Patong it is extremely quiet, and it is impossible to get lost on the same street Bang Niang with a dozen drinking establishments. The priestesses of the most ancient profession work there, so the point “sex tourism” in the vacation program can be left.

Khuk Khak Beach

Khuk Khak Beach is, in our opinion, one of the most beautiful beaches in Khao Lak. At the same time it is the most deserted (people can be found only near the hotels) and remote from the above described. For this reason, Khuk Khak could not be better suited to lovers of secluded recreation. Also here is one of the best hotels of this resort – The Heaven Khao Lak.

Pakarang Beach

Pakarang Beach is mostly popular with professional surfers because the conditions here are ideal for the sport. Otherwise, the beach is quite large and sparsely populated. Not far from the surf spot is a fairly comfortable hotel Palm Galleria Resort.

Sunset Beach

Sunset Beach is the southernmost part after Khao Lak Beach and is located right under the hill, near which, in turn, there are several hotels with magnificent views of the bay. For couples in love, we recommend booking the cozy Sensimar Khaolak Beachfront Resort, located right on the beach.

Bang Sak Beach

Bang Sak Beach is almost in the very north of Khao Lak, not far from the town of Takua Pa. The place is quite contrasting in terms of population – you can find both deserted places, and quite inhabited. In the neighborhood there are also many comfortable hotels and small restaurants, where you can enjoy savory Thai dishes. The Haadson Resort is highly recommended.

On the other five beaches, the atmosphere is peaceful and patriarchal. Just beyond the hotels’ doorstep, the forest or clean beach sand begins. But if that’s not enough for you, head to Koh Kho Khao Island. It is a five-minute boat ride from Bang Sak Beach. The length of its beach line is almost fifteen kilometers, and the hotels are not more than a dozen. In low season there you can quite feel like a Robinson and long for Friday.

Cultural program

Sightseeing. These are all natural and natural in nature. Khao Lak National Park, waterfalls, pristine beaches. Only the monument dedicated to the victims of the tsunami of 2004 is man-made. It is a police boat left on the shore. It is a natural disaster that explains the fact that most of the man-made objects of Khao Lak is no more than ten years old. Khao Lak tours are offered by local travel agencies, but you can hire bikes and go around on your own.

Shopping and shopping. This kind of entertainment is only possible in Bang Niang or Nang Tong, but shopaholic fans won’t be particularly happy about it. In the villages there are few large chain stores, even with widespread throughout Thailand 7-Eleven – problems. Markets in Khao Lak offer the usual range of traditional Thai souvenirs, local “goodies” at reasonable prices. If you can’t do without shopping, head to Phuket Town and visit the Central Festival shopping center.

Entertainment. The most significant places to “have a blast” in Khao Lak are Moo Moo Cabaret, a tranny show, and Zantika Pub, a nightclub. They are on the main street of Bang Niang. The beaches offer jet ski rentals and other beach activities. There are massage parlors, you can go to a bar or restaurant. If there is nothing else to do, at night you can launch Chinese lanterns into the sky.

Weather

The best weather in Khao Lak is during our Russian winter. From November to mid-March it is not particularly hot, just above thirty. Occasionally there are refreshing rains. Scorching and great dryness begin in April and last until June. If you want to spend your summer vacation in the bathhouse, come from May to October. Temperatures are above thirty, it rains almost every day (more often at night). Strong winds dispersing high waves add to the exoticism. The water temperature is above 27 degrees in any season.

Hotels

Holidays in Khao Lak cannot be called budget. Lodging and hotels, which can be considered quite comfortable, are somewhat more expensive than, for example, on Samui, although cheaper than in Patong. The best hotels in Khao Lak are in Bang Niang and Nan Tong. Cheaper than a thousand baht, they do not have rooms. There are proposals and three thousand. The farther away from the water, the cheaper. On the coast are, for the most part, hotels, similar to bungalows. They are the most expensive. A five-minute walk from them are three-and five-story gesthouses, which offer rooms for 400-500 baht. The obscurity of this resort among tourists is largely due to the fact that information about how to get to Khao Lak is scarce and not particularly replicated.
