Bangkok’s amazing Siam Ocean World

The Bangkok Oceanarium ㅡ A living piece of ocean in the heart of a city of millions. An area the size of a soccer stadium is home to 30,000 sea creatures. Every cubic centimeter of the interior is taken care of to ensure the full effect of presence, immersion and complicity in the life of the underwater world. By the way, I also recommend visiting Dream World amusement park!

Although the Bangkok Oceanarium is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., you have at least 3 reasons to visit in the morning. Lunchtime is when the pets are fed and most of the shows take place (the schedule of the latter, Bangkok Oceanarium “Siam Ocean World” regularly updates on its official website). This is one. To give a total of the oceanarium and the mall “Paragon Siam”, in which it is located, less than 4 hours ㅡ the crime. That’s two. And there is also no better place in all of Bangkok to take shelter from the midday heat, ㅡ that’s three.

Cash Room

An adult ticket costs 900 baht. Admission for children under 120 cm tall ㅡ 700 baht. Such a ticket includes a walk through the oceanarium, a ride on a boat with a transparent bottom, watching a 7D cartoon, popcorn and a Coke. For only 100 baht extra, you get a behind-the-scenes tour of the center (in English) and a “Happy Fish ㅡ Happy Feet” phish spa session.

The structure of the Bangkok Oceanarium is designed so that each room ㅡ has its own twist. As you go deeper, each new “feature” simply “completes” all the previous ones.

Tip! Lovers of underwater flora and fauna may like another no less remarkable Phuket Oceanarium, but it is located in a completely different resort in Thailand. So you will have to travel several hundred kilometers to admire its inhabitants, but it is worth it, because you can also participate in other surprising excursions on this island, offered by local guides.

Thuket, Chuda, and other interesting activities.

“Wonderful and Amazing.” The section is devoted entirely to corals and their bizarre “tenants”: giant spider crabs; snake-like fish vertically twisting out of the bottom, and absolutely unimaginable creatures that you don’t even know which kingdom of nature to classify. It’s like being in a Grandpa Cousteau show!

“Deepwater Reef.” It’s a giant aquarium that you can see both from above, through the transparent bottom of the boat, and from the side. It’s so huge that even the divers around the central reef look organic and don’t disturb its living space in any way.

“The Living Ocean.” In some ways it resembles the first section, but life is literally boiling here! Amazing creatures play and flutter; displaying the most fantastic shapes and colors. This is a whole labyrinth, in the grottoes of which you can get acquainted with the inhabitants of the most remote depths. Most of them are blind by nature.

“Tropical Forest” greets with a shady bridge of lianas, a waterfall, and birdsong. Here you can observe the land and river inhabitants of the jungle.

“Rocky Shore” lets you follow otters and penguins in their natural habitat. It’s a fun sight, especially if you get to feed them.

“Open Ocean” ㅡ is a glass tunnel in the water column. It is like walking on the bottom of the sea. It feels frighteningly realistic.

“Jellyfish.” Suddenly you find yourself in a lounge where jellyfish swim and flutter in the lights. After the transparent tunnel your heartbeat comes back to normal. It’s time for a spa and a movie. By the way, did you know that jellyfish in Thailand pose a serious danger to tourists?

How to get to the Oceanarium in Bangkok? Very simple: for those who are in Bangkok by yourself – from the Bangkok Siam subway station you get directly to the Siam Paragon Mall. The oceanarium is located on the underground level. Numerous signs in English prevent anyone from getting confused.
