In this high-tech age, almost everyone uses the Internet. People cannot do without it even for a day. So for many visitors to Thailand, having at least a few minutes of daily internet access is a must. Let’s try to understand the peculiarities of Internet in Thailand: learn its types, cost and speed characteristics.
ADSL-Internet
.
For a while it was the most widely used, both in Thailand and on the planet as a whole. Now it’s a thing of the past because it’s not the right connection for the speed of data as demanded by today’s users.
In a nutshell, an ADSL Internet connection is a connection where a phone cable is plugged into a specialized network jack (the modem) on a notebook or PC. It’s this cable that delivers those coveted megabytes of information.

In addition to these 3 whales, different provinces of the country have their own small players. So the tourist will have no problem connecting to the described internet.
There is no problem.
I would like to mention that the ADSL Internet will probably suit those foreign tourists, who come for a very long Leisure time in Thailand. After all, to connect such an Internet connection, you should have a stable place of residence (take rent a house in Thailand for six months, or have a Thai real estate). You would also have to go to the office of the provider and sign a contract, and most often for European tourists (Thais call these “Farang”) the smallest term of the agreement is one year, that is you pay for a year in advance. But what do people who come to Thailand just for a month do?
We can reassure you, you probably won’t find yourself without a network in Thailand. Countless Wi-Fi hotspots, as well as a massive 3G internet network, are taking over every tourist area in the country.
Wi-Fi internet
.
Almost every hotel, cafe, guesthouse, and a number of other places in Thailand where tourists vacation, has Wi-Fi hotspots. But to use them, you should have a device with a Wi-Fi modem at hand, for example take a tablet or laptop.
Mobile Internet 3G
.
To use mobile internet in Thailand, travelers need to buy a phone SIM card, as well as make a package connection. This can be done at any mobile phone shop. If you do not want to use 3G internet with your smartphone, and if you need it in a laptop or computer, in the absence of nearby Wi-Fi spots and cable can come to help 3G modem. It is also available in all Thai cell phone stores. On average, such a modem costs 1,000 baht.

Prices for Internet in Thailand
Wi-Fi – a free point can be found almost everywhere – in cafes, in your hotels it will almost without exception be free, but there are hotels where you have to pay for it from 50 rubles (baht) per day.
ADSL – I use 3BB services: 590 baht for 10 mbps. Other carriers have similar prices for ADSL Internet.
3G – at the moment the most economical package is given by the firm AIS 1-2 Call (mobile operator). For 4 weeks it costs 799 baht (with unlimited monthly package). This is up to 3 Gb transferred data at maximum speed. Above 3 Gb – 384 kb / sec. If you do not download movies, you can use it quite well.
