Surin Beach in Phuket is also a resort with several hotels. It is located almost in the center of the western shoreline of the island. From the capital it is about 25 kilometers, and from the airport – sixteen. Bang Tao Beach is to the north of it, but you can only get there by highway, as they are separated by a coastal cliff. The total length of Surin Beach is about a kilometer, with a width of 40 meters.
Because of the fact that this place prefer to choose to rest many of the rich and famous people of the earth, Surin Beach is often called the beach of “millionaires”. But that epithet only really applies to the northern, most isolated part of the beach. That’s where Pansy Bay is, on the shores of which are built two of the most fashionable hotels on the island – Amanpuri and The Surin Phuket. This paradise is separated from the plebeian spot by a coastal cliff, so you just can’t get there.
Infrastructure at Surin Beach
Surin Beach in Phuket is one of the most developed beaches. In addition to hotels, several restaurants and bars are built there, there are large shopping centers of Phuket. Tourists do not have to leave it to spend their time in an interesting and useful way. Here you can find Thai massage salons, tour bureaus, and bike rental companies.
The main difference between it and other Phuket beaches is the absence of the highway that elsewhere divides the residential and recreational areas. Here the highway passes two hundred meters to the east, and the promenade is occupied by a pedestrian zone, packed with stores and small cafes. Besides, there are practically no palm trees, and the invigorating shade is given by the local trees, something resembling our pines.
From the beach, it’s quite easy, just a half-hour walk, to get to the neighboring stretches of coastline – Laem Sing and Bang Tao, each of which offers something particularly interesting that the other places don’t have.
Surin Beach features
In the low season, the beach is heavily influenced by monsoon winds that disperse high waves. Swimming at this time of the year there is simply dangerous (but you can do professional surfing). Therefore, the number of sun beds and umbrellas is halved, compared to the high season, when you can hardly find a free place on three or four rows of vacation spots.
If you come to Surin in December, you can enjoy all the splendor of the warm sea, the entrance to which is very gentle, which makes the place especially attractive for couples with children (read more about prices, weather and beaches of Phuket in winter). This is also the time of year when a temporary dock for boats is set up at the south end of the beach. It’s a good diving platform, and the nearby rocky shoal is a paradise for snorkeling and scuba diving. It is simply teeming with underwater life.
Warning! Strong swell during low season is not the only danger. There are usually strong reverse currents near the shoreline that even professional swimmers may not be able to handle. So pay attention to the full waves, and if they are present, first assess your strength, but it is better to give up swimming altogether.
Entertainment on Surin Beach
Entertainment in Surin Beach also depends a lot on the season. In high season you can enjoy water skiing, jet skiing and traditional “banana boats”. In summer, there are surfboard rentals. If you are a fan of sliding on the crest of a wave, you will get all the positive emotions you could expect.
In seasonal entertainment, there are numerous restaurants and bars, the main hangout of which is Catch Beach Club (read about the best clubs in Phuket), whose veranda sometimes gets salty splashes. In addition to the beauty of the surrounding views, you can eat different dishes with live music. The price tag in this place is quite high, and if you’re not looking to visit pompous places, it’s not hard to find something more acceptable for your wallet.
Restaurants in Surin spoil their visitors with an abundant menu, with not only Thai but also European dishes on the list. Again, it’s worth noting that the price tag for a modest dinner may shock you. If you just want to satisfy your hunger, then go to the street makashnitsa, which offers a standard Thai bich package: noodles or rice with meat.
In the meantime, you can eat Thai noodles or rice with meat.
In principle, you won’t go hungry even if you don’t get up from your sun lounger all day. The local boxmen will provide you with sweets, fruit and ice cream.

Stores
The big stores in Surin Beach are Pimol Minimart, Plaza, which sells clothes, accessories and shoes. There’s also Lemongrass, specializing in natural cosmetics, mostly oils and lotions. If you’re interested in groceries and manufactured goods, it’s better to go to Bang Tao, where the Tesco Lotus hypermarket is open. Right on the beach vendors offer all sorts of small things – handkerchiefs, jewelry and souvenirs of dubious quality, but always authentic Thai. The stores on the street along the beach are richer choice, but nothing serious you can not buy there. Read more about all this in the article about shopping in Phuket.
