Thailand is a wonderful country and we have no desire to leave it at all. I would like to stay here a little longer, but there is one little problem – visa. It tends to expire over time.
What is a visa-ran?
And so enterprising tourists have invented a way to live in Thailand almost permanently. It’s called visa-ran. If translate from English – visa-rans.
The experienced tourist knows what a visa-aran is, for the rest of us I will say – it is quite a boring event, a necessary visit to neighboring, with Thailand, countries. Depending on the resort where you stay, you will have to go to Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, or Malaysia (do you think what is better for a vacation, Malaysia or Thailand?) It is required to cross the border with the countries listed above, stay there just a few minutes, then you can go back.
This trip takes only one day and allows you to spend the whole next month in your favorite Thailand. At the end of this time there is another day trip.
Visa-ran canceled
Unfortunately, that whole celebration of life came to an end not too long ago – visa-ran in Thailand was cancelled. So what happened? There was a military coup in the Kingdom not too long ago. Now the new government is looking out for those who are in the country illegally. Of course, this is not a problem for tourists, few of them stay in Thailand longer than a month. The case concerns illegal workers. These are mainly guides and “free artists” without work permit in Thailand and lead their business in Thailand, and the appropriate visa.
Naturally, traveling by visa-rans could not just happen, for some part of the tourists is a very convenient and profitable business (ideas for opening a business in Thailand). After all, every illegal immigrant once a month had to travel to a neighboring country. But now all that is coming to an end. Now you can still try to go back through the checkpoint at the border with Cambodia, but you will only be able to do it once, because they put a special mark in your passport. But still, if you get a visa-aran, it is important to convince the officials that you get it for tourism purposes.
Now that visa-ran in Thailand has been banned, operators are likely to have new “working connections” who will continue to provide their illegal services. But if you still want to be in Thailand longer, it is better to get yourself a legal visa for six months or a year. And enjoy this fabulous kingdom in peace.
