Phuket’s Kata Noi Beach is small but cozy. Its total length does not exceed six hundred meters. In rainy season it is simply occupied by fans of surfing. But in winter it attracts holidaymakers with its isolation – it is bounded at both ends by rocky headlands, and cleanliness.

It’s about 20 km from the island’s capital, Phuket Town, and 45 from airport. It neighbors the equally popular Nai Harn and is separated from it by hills. What adds to the isolation of the beach is that the access highway, ending near Katathani Phuket, does not lead anywhere else. If you want to get to the beaches to the south, you will have to use the bypass road.

Kata Noi Beach in Phuket is a top choice for those looking to really unwind, in a relaxing way. Nothing will stop you from doing so – there are no noisy party crowds and crowds hungry for cheap shopping. Bars with girls and Phuket nightclubs are left somewhere behind its lines, so nothing will offend the champions of morality either. The set of restaurants, grocery stores and souvenir stores is enough for a quite comfortable pastime.

Kata Beach is not far away, full of fine restaurants, good shopping and entertainment on the verge of madness. A quarter-hour walk and you’re there.

Kata Noi beach infrastructure

To be completely frank, Kata Noi beach in Phuket is not the most developed part of the coast. Neither showers nor toilets you will not find there! These signs of civilization are only in the hotel Katathani Phuket Beach Resort, but you are unlikely to get past the guards at the entrance if you are not a guest.

A set of a couple of sun loungers and an umbrella can be rented for about 200 baht. Rental outlets are near the stairs on the north end of the beach and near the main entrance. However, it is not a fact that you can find quite a comfortable place to your liking with all these gadgets. You will have to place yourself where you can.

There are several stores, including chain 7-Eleven and Family, along the coastal road, further from the sea. As well as cafes, Thai massage parlors and stalls with fresh fruit. You can’t count on street vendors selling Thai hot dogs (makashniki). The big supermarket Macro is on the highway between Kata and Karon, over three kilometers away.

About Kata Noi Beach as a natural phenomenon

The width of the coastal strip of Kata Noi Beach in Phuket is variable, it depends on the season and the tides. It is usually about 30 meters, but can be as narrow as five.

In low season, there are days when the waves hit the waterfront parapet, the strip of sand is missing altogether. From May to October, it’s one of the most dangerous beaches on the island. Near the porch of the coastal five-star hotel, posters about the presence of battering currents hang constantly, as well as a list of drownings and even the date of the last incident.

When winter arrives, everything changes exactly the opposite. The blue lagoon, bounded to the north and south by palm-covered hills, looks more like a picturesque pool this time of year. The sand is ordinary, quartz, closer to white in shade. It perfectly shades the azure water, reflecting the serene sky. You will not find natural shade on the beach. Trees are only on the territory of the coastal hotels. Sun loungers and umbrellas are also available there.

Entertainment at Kata Noi Beach

So, what to do at Kata Noi if there are no sights or entertainment nearby? Well, almost none. About three kilometers away, between Karon and Kata, is Dino Park, which is a golf course stacked with dinosaur figurines. Karon View Point is closer, but the climb up the mountain can be too tiring because of the heat. All the activities at Kata Noi Beach can be summarized in this list:

Rawai Village (10-minute drive) – fish restaurants on Rawai and a Thai long-tail boat ride to the nearby uninhabited islets.

Hotels on Kata Noi

All the hotels at Kata Noi Beach are on the first line. However, the lion’s share of the entire beach area is Katathani Phuket Beach Resort – chic 5-star apartments. So it is not possible to live near the sea on a budget. A little further from the surf line are Kata Hiview Resort and Choophorn House. If you’ve managed to travel to Thailand, the prices there will suit you. There are inexpensive guesthouses at 500 baht a night at nearby Karon Beach.

How to get to Kata Noi Beach

So how to get to Kata Noi Beach in Phuket? We can say for sure that it is on the way to Kata Beach, the way there is described in detail in the article dedicated to it and therefore there is no point in repeating ourselves. For those who missed something, we will briefly repeat: from the island’s capital Phuket Town go municipal buses to the northwest, they stop a couple of kilometers from the shore, it takes about 15 minutes to walk. The trip cost about 40 baht. If you are coming from the airport, the minibus to Kata Noi beach will take you for 200 baht, and a cab at least 600 baht. Can ask for 1000, as you haggle. There is no other transportation from the airport.

There are two entrances to Kata Noi itself. On the side of Kata Beach there is a staircase, quite steep and long. It takes about five minutes to go down it. How long you climb back – depends on your physical shape. But it is hard to do in the heat. So it is better to walk (and if you are a rent a bike in Phuket, then drive) another kilometer north to the end of the highway. There’s parking and a short, gentle descent.
